Understand and reshape the impact of an experienced adaptive immunity on fracture healing (P01)

Subject Area Medical Informatics and Medical Bioinformatics
Term since 2021
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 427826188

Schmidt-Bleek and Volk aim to understand and reshape the impact of an experienced adaptive immunity on fracture healing. They will investigate the favourable and detrimental influence of specific immune cell subsets (effector CD8+ T cells, CD4+ T regulatory (Treg) cells, T helper 17 cells) and their cytokines and signalling cascades in an immune experienced, clinically relevant bone injury mouse model in order to understand their impact during bone regeneration. They aim to reshape the negative impact of an “experienced” pro-inflammatory adaptive immunity to enhance bone regeneration by local immunomodulation.
