Nanocapsule-based functional analysis of myeloid cells and platelets in autoimmune diseases (C06)

Subject Area Dermatology
Term since 2021
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 431460824

A hallmark of cutaneous autoimmune diseases is the infiltration of myeloid cells into the skin and affected organs. However, the role of subpopulations of myeloid cells, in particular of inflammatory and patrolling monocytes, and their crosstalk with platelets remains largely unknown in the pathogenesis of systemic Lupus erythematosus (SLE) and systemic sclerosis (SSc). We will combine novel nanocapsule-based approaches with multiscale imaging techniques in mouse models of SSc and SLE to decipher molecular mechanisms of myeloid cell and platelet function, their interaction and the role of ROS-mediated processes.
