Project Details
Nanoseond Ultra-Rapid Freeze Quenching for Time-resolved Structural Biology
Applicant
Professor Dr. Harald Schwalbe
Subject Area
Structural Biology
Term
since 2021
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 451906961
The application aims to develop instrumentation for the time-resolved studies of biochemical processes, yielding 3D molecular movies recorded with atomic resolution in real time. Application targets regular and custom-made equipment for pre-steady-state triggering, sampling, probing and detection, including optical, cryo-sedimentation and ultra-high vacuum systems, UHPLC sample delivery and the computation cluster upgrade. Such instrumentation will be essential for time-resolved structural biology, in particular solid state NMR and cryo-EM.
