Third-phase efforts will be geared towards connecting near surface coupled wind-wave dynamics with upper ocean and lower atmosphere energy fluxes, particularly looking at dissipative effects. Building on previous phase results, extended domains will be considered to investigate surface wind-wave influences on the upper ocean, in particular Langmuir turbulence. To this end, we are aiming for a coupling between the wind-wave model and an established upper ocean Large Eddy Simulation model. To avoid spurious kinetic energy induced by non-physical measurements or predictions, gradient robust identification techniques will be extended to the wind-wave model.
