This project will characterize intergenerational effects of maternal obesity on the development and function of hepatic macrophages, and how this modulates liver metabolism in the offspring. We aim to dissect the ontogeny, as well as cellular and molecular changes of macrophages, and other myeloid cells in the liver from the offspring born to obese mice. We will further characterize potential epigenetic modulators and lipid species that drive developmental programming events, and we aim to test whether the systemic metabolic changes in the offspring lead to detrimental effects in tissue regeneration.
