Project Details
Metabolic switches regulating stress tolerance in eukaryotes (A22)
Subject Area
Biochemistry
Term
since 2020
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 278001972
Metabolic switches enable cells to adjust metabolism to fluctuating and stressful environmental conditions. We will study three metabolic switches, the glycolysis/PPP switch, and two so-far poorly characterized switches connected to cysteine and histidine metabolism. We aim to identify the genetic basis of these three switches by employing genome-wide association techniques based on segregant analysis in yeast. We also aim to unravel how these metabolic switches mediate drug resilience, in both yeast and human cells.
