The project investigates the astounding convergence between different forms of basic research that aim for an anthropological generalization: The specifically human of Homo sapiens sapiens is located in the species’ ability to co-operate, and this ability is usually identified – both ontogenetically and phylogenetically – with the potential for co-operative pointing. This project will examine the role of ,pointing‘ (including deixis and indexicality) in anthropological research, the conceptual history of ,Wechselwirkung‘ (and its translation equivalents interaction, reciprocité), and the co-operative learning of skills.
