Interregional comparison of Iron Age transformations: from Mediterranean Etruria to Baltic Den-mark (E04*(E02))

Project E4 will conduct an inter-regional comparison of the transformational processes observed in different social domains (social relations/structure, ideology, settlement pattern) of Iron Age Central Italy, SW Germany, and Denmark. The main approach will be a critical synopsis of the published re-sults, which will lead to conceptual models of regional to global transformations, the construction of which will rest on the pattern recognition in the data on a) social organization and social hierarchy; b) urbanity, centrality, territoriality and settlement patterns; c) networks, interaction and exchange; d) subsistence, environmental conditions, land use and population; and e) technology, ideology and innovations.
