Project Details
Regulation of Flavonoid Biosynthesis by Plastid-derived Signals (C06)
Subject Area
Plant Physiology
Term
from 2020 to 2024
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 270050988
As a major physiological trait of high light and cold acclimation as well as in response to perturbed chloroplast development, plants accumulate flavonoids (e.g., anthocyanins). Although factors involved in transcriptional regulation of the pathway have been identified, the components of signal transduction cascade(s) involving chloroplast as a sensor for the changing environment to regulate flavonoid biosynthesis are not understood. The main objective of the proposed work is to understand the impact of chloroplast derived signals on the regulation of flavonoid biosynthesis during chloroplast development and in response to shifts in light intensity and temperature.
