Many users of the Core Facility Cellular Imaging (CFCI) have to image whole series of slides. Using the currently available microscopes in our core facility, this is a very time consuming process. It would be much more time efficient to acquire the data by using an automated microscope with standardized procedures. This can be achieved with an automatic slide scanner that can be loaded with up to 100 slides per single run. Data can be collected in a fully automated way by applying individual user settings, enabling standardized image acquisition with high reproducibility. Series of samples can be recorded over night to increase the efficiency of data collection. This leads to an enormous reduction in time necessary for the users to operate the microscope during imaging. The microscope of choice should be used to analyze both brightfield as well as fluorescent samples. It offers a broad spectrum of analysis to the users of our core facilty. Due to this automatic calibration, reproducible and consistent data can be acquired for further quantifications and analyses.
