Project Details
Inflammatory lung microenvironment in lung cancer-associated pulmonary hypertension (A10)
Subject Area
Pneumology, Thoracic Surgery
Term
since 2020
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 268555672
Lung cancer-associated pulmonary hypertension (LC-PH) has a high prevalence in patients with various lung tumors and may contribute to their poor prognosis and symptom progression. As tumor-associated macrophages (TAMs) have been shown to contribute to the pathogenesis of LC-PH, we will investigate the cellular mechanisms by which monocyte-to-macrophage differentiation and activation of different macrophage pathways promote the development of TAM phenotypes and investigate their potential to induce malignancy in normal cells of the lung such as pulmonary artery smooth muscle cells and pulmonary artery adventitial fibroblasts.
