Project Details
NV-center spectroscopy for strain sensing of non-collinear antiferromagnets (A08+)
Subject Area
Experimental Condensed Matter Physics
Term
from 2020 to 2024
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 422213477
The project develops a new method by exploiting the unique sensitivity of nitrogen-vacancy (NV) centers in diamond to magnetic fields, mechanical strain and temperature to optically read out local strain fields. The potential of this method is demonstrated for antiferromagnetic thin films with a non-collinear magnetic structure and strong magnetoelastic coupling deposited on thin diamond membranes. The method will be also available for other CRC/TRR projects.
