Within the framework of the project, all 16 volumes of the edition The Persecution and Murder of European Jews by National Socialist Germany 1933-1945 (VEJ) will be translated into English and published. The 16 volumes contain about 5,280 documents on approximately 12,800 pages. The documents are translated into English from 21 languages. The VEJ/PMJ edition is the first representative, thematically comprehensive and scientifically prepared collection of central sources and documents on the persecution and murder of European Jews between 1933 and 1945. The majority of the documents are published here for the first time. The edition is particularly important for those countries in which hardly any sources on the Holocaust have been published so far. In cooperation with Yad Vashem (Jerusalem), the English edition of The Persecution and Murder of the European Jews by Nazi Germany, 1933-1945 (PMJ) will make this research achievement accessible to a broader international audience. This will achieve an unprecedented internationalisation of Holocaust research in Germany. The project phase described here includes the preparation and completion of volumes 4 to 12.
