Since 2008, a 3-tesla magnetic resonance tomograph has been operated in Greifswald. Since the institute has a W2 professorship for Functional Imaging, the device will be scientifically used from the beginning of Thursday through Sunday evenings. Clinical neuroradiological examinations are currently taking place on 3 working days. Due to the successful development of neuro / radiological research and in cooperation with clinical and preclinical partners from the UMG and the University of Greifswald, especially working groups working on functional imaging, the existing device is no longer sufficient due to its age and limited availability. It should therefore together with the Math.-Nat. Faculty a new 3 Tesla magnetic resonance tomograph will be procured, which is used exclusively for research purposes. A newly established W3 professorship in medical physics will be available to support radiological research. For use by the medical physicist, multi-core capability is required.
