We apply for a 5-laser flow cytometer with high-throughput platform for the flow cytometry core facility Cell Sorting of the University Medical Center Göttingen (UMG), University of Göttingen. The device will allow cell biology analysis at advanced technical level in the flow cytometry unit, which is in place since 2006. The high multiparametric capacity based on the laser equipment of the new instrument enables the differentiated dissection of the cellular components in tumors and inflammatory tissues, as well as the detection of ectopic expressed fluorescent marker of the mRFPs (monomeric red fluorescent proteins) after genetic transduction. The proposed instrument is designed to measure small sample volumes from small animal studies, and it is suited for automated large scale screening approaches with on a high throughput module. Infrastructural integration in the UMG core facility setting warrants the efficient and flexible use of the instrument by a broad group of specialized research teams.
