Since the appointment of Prof. Manteuffel, the Institute of Microwave and Wireless Systems has focused on the integration aspects of high-frequency systems. At the institute a high-frequency technical basic equipment is available. In recent years, an antenna measuring chamber for far field measurements in the frequency range between 500 MHz and 40 GHz has already been constructed from its own resources. Future systems in the field of high-frequency technology and radio systems will increasingly address the millimeter wave range as well. In contrast to established millimeter-wave radio systems, applications are increasingly targeted in the area of consumer and mass market electronics. Prominent application fields are e.g. future mobile communications generations or automotive radar applications. Integration aspects therefore play an increasingly important role here, which is to be investigated in the context of the research focus of the institute. An adequate antenna measurement technique for the millimeter-wave range is a core element for carrying out the research, which unfortunately is currently not available to the institute.
