High performance liquid chromatography mass spectrometer (QqQ)

Subject Area Biological Chemistry and Food Chemistry
Term Funded in 2020
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 438263278

Two-dimensional high-performance liquid chromatograph (LC) with a sensitive mass spectrometer (MS) is a key tool for the quantification of compounds in complex mixtures as selective and sensitive as possible. Thereby the two-dimensional liquid chromatography enables a high selectivity, and the mass spectrometer allows the quantification of small, medium and large molecules with extremely low detection limits due to its high resolution as well as the usage of fragmentation experiments. Currently, at the faculty of mathematics and natural science at the University of Wuppertal, no two-dimensional (ultra) high-performance liquid chromatography or a state-of-the-art mass spectrometer are available. Since Prof. Schebb, Prof. Bornhorst and Prof. Simon started their research at the University of Wuppertal a large number of research questions arose, which can only be answered by LC-MS. In order to address new joint research projects, the working groups have decided to apply for such a system
