Additive Manufacturing (WAAM) of High Strength and Individualized Steel Components (A07)

Subject Area Joining and Separation Technology
Architecture, Building and Construction History, Construction Research, Sustainable Building Technology
Structural Engineering, Building Informatics and Construction Operation
Term since 2020
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 414265976

This project investigates the specific challenges of the WAAM process for the fabrication of large-scale components with predictable properties for use in construction. By the implementation of a design framework in combination with advanced and adaptive path planning and process control, the local strengthening of semi-finished parts as well as on-site WAAM will be investigated. A Learning-by-Printing approach will be developed by tracking process data to enable online decision making during the fabrication. The Digital Twin will be expanded and forms the basis for virtual component tests to assess the structural behavior of WAAM parts.
