The goal of this project is a fundamental understanding of the material-process interactions in particle-bed 3D printing by Selective Cement Activation. Special focus is on basic research addressing the environmental sustainability, i.e. reducing the material’s CO2-footprint as well as the enhancement of the SCA process regarding an automated process-parallel reinforcement integration, novel approaches of graded and multi-material printing as well as excavation strategies. To get a fundamental understanding of the printed material properties we further aim to develop models describing particle-bed compaction, fluid intrusion as well as constitutive material models for the hardened properties. We furthermore intend to investigate the possibilities of topology optimisation and segmentation.
