Project Details
Multi-Photon Laser Scanning Microscope with FLIM
Subject Area
Agriculture, Forestry and Veterinary Medicine
Term
Funded in 2020
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 437697995
The requested microscope system will be integrated into the existing Core Facility “Two-Photon Imaging”, a Core Facility of the Interdisciplinary Centre for Clinical Research (IZKF) Aachen within the Faculty of Medicine at RWTH Aachen University. As described in the supplement research the microscope system will be used in various projects to elucidate open questions in different fields of research including: solid organ fibrosis (kidney, heart, lung) and vascular injury and repair, including athero- and arteriosclerosis; molecular mechanisms of inflammatory processes with a special focus on ADAM(etalloprotease)s; cytoskeleton function as the main provider of mechanical properties of cells and tissues; molecular mechanisms of cytokine signalling in STAT3-relevant disease models, pathophysiology of acute respiratory distress syndrome; pathophysiological changes in chronic kidney diseases associated with changes in the three-dimensional cellular morphology that lead to disease development and progression; pathophysiological mechanisms of renal fibrosis and the onset of cardiovascular disease developed during progressive chronic kidney disease; and immune-lipid crosstalk in the setting of both cardiovascular disease and chronic kidney disease.
