The project will use CALPHAD modelling to provide a complete 3rd generation thermodynamic description of all phases in the Mg-Al-Ca system and expand the CALPHAD approach to the construction of defect phase diagrams. The modelling will strongly rely on ab initio calculations performed within the CRC. The final goal of the project is to construct a unified CALPHAD framework including both defect phase diagrams and bulk thermodynamics.
