Project Details
Combinatorial synthesis of Ni-Nb-Cu-Al-Au model layer systems (B02)
Subject Area
Synthesis and Properties of Functional Materials
Term
since 2020
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 409476157
The research objective of B02 is to elucidate correlations between synthesis conditions, structure evolution and layer properties of Ni-Nb-Cu-Al-Au thin films for the targeted synthesis of thin films with highest possible phase purity and domain size. For this purpose, binary and ternary Ni-based solid solutions and intermetallic phases are deposited combinatorially by ultra-high vacuum magnetron sputtering and characterised along concentration gradients with respect to chemical composition, structure and morphology by means of energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction analysis and scanning transmission electron microscopy.
