Project Details
Additive manufacturing of permanent magnets using functionalized microparticles (A10)
Subject Area
Synthesis and Properties of Functional Materials
Term
since 2020
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 405553726
The amount of critical rare-earth elements in printed (Nd, Pr)-Fe-B magnets will be reduced and new techniques for printing Sm(CoCu)5 and Ce(CoCu)5 magnets will be developed by using AM to increase Mr and (BH)max. This will be performed in close cooperation with projects A11, B11, B08. New techniques will be developed with new PBF-LB machine to extent printing to more complex SmZrCoCuFe compositions, where Sm(CoCu)5 and Ce(CoCu)5 phases will be provided by A01. Nanoparticle precursors will be functionalized by low melting temperature nanocrystalline powders (Cu, Al, Ag, Sn) to optimize liquid-phase sintering without grain coarsening (A11).
