This project is dedicated to tailoring the microstructure of hard ferromagnetic materials via severe plastic deformation (SPD) processing, in order to maximize magnetic hardening effects in multicomponent SmCo-X as well as NdFeB-X based composite systems. Their magnetic interaction and the partial amorphization mechanism will be investigated. Ni, Fe, Cr, Sn and Ag will be used as binder phase since they provide different magnetic interaction mechanisms as well as a different solubility and chemical interaction with the hard magnetic phase. The microstructural refinement processes will also be transferred to 2:17 and 2:14:1 compounds with more complex crystal structures as well as to less critical 1:5 type and Fe2P-type system. Direct collaboration partners are the projects A01, A02, A03, A05, A07, A10, A11, A12, B11, Z01.
