Kosi and Sievers (B05) investigate how capital providers make their investment decisions based on the information that firms provide via regulated and unregulated reporting. They will use equity and debt market settings and their intersection. Specifically, they will extend the global collection of financial restatements to measure their impact on voluntary and mandatory disclosures. They will use textual measures of transparency in annual reports to improve accounting quality measures and study spillovers from bond prospectuses to the equity market. They will analyze two important transparency issues in debt markets: the role of intangible assets and green bonds.
