Project Details
Biogenesis and activity-dependent dynamics of AMPA-receptor complexes (A08)
Subject Area
Biochemistry
Term
from 2019 to 2023
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 403222702
Native AMPA-type glutamate receptors (AMPARs) are multi-protein complexes that reconsti-tute the receptor ion channels responsible for rapid signal transduction and memory formation in excitatory synapses of the mammalian brain. We will investigate the molecular steps behind assembly and processing of these multi-component machineries in the endoplasmic reticulum, analyze the structural details behind the complex assemblies, and study the significance of receptor dynamics for excitatory neurotransmission and its activity-dependent plasticity in the normal and diseased brain.
