This proposal aims to establish a Multiphoton imaging unit for intravital Imaging applications. The set-up will be situated within the animal operation theatre enclosed in the animal housing facility, which will enable the users to perform longitudinal repetitive investigations that require the animals to be taken in and out of the housing facility at various time points. The applicants are focusing on oncological, cardiovascular and immunological applications, with a clear focus on the investigation and tracking of innate and adaptive immune cells. Therefore imaging of the cardiovascular system, myocardium, primary and secondary lymphoid organs will be performed. The set-up applied for is tailored for these applications in that it allows tracking of cells in tissue and fast intravital imaging. The microscope will be embedded within the structure of the existing imaging core-facilities and will provide the possibility for high-level intravital imaging and will fill an unmet need within the available imaging platforms.
