Term
Funded in 2019
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 424917450
Matrix-assisted Laser-Desorption/Ionization combined with Time-of-Flight analysis of the created ions is an important method for the mass spectrometric characterization of synthetic products in the field of polymer and macromolecular research. The requested instrument enables the analysis of substances, which were difficult/not accessible with the available instrumentation before. In addition to the projects described in the attachment, this method is generally necessary in the characterization of large molecules, with a low degree of functionalization or poor solubility, that cannot be ionized with other available ionization techniques. The instrument will be positioned and operated in the central facility for mass spectrometry of the Institute of Organic Chemistry. In addition to the use by the members of the Institute of Organic Chemistry, the requested device will also be used by neighbouring institutes (e.g. Institute of Physical Chemistry, Institute of Inorganic Chemistry and Analytical Chemistry, Institute of Pharmacy and Biochemistry, Institute of Molecular Physiology).
