Project Details
Topology and function of secretory antibodies in gut-liver communication (B06)
Subject Area
Immunology
Term
since 2019
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 403224013
Secretory immunoglobulins (SIg) confer protection against toxins and pathogens. Additionally, SIg bind to gut microbiota affecting microbial metabolism, growth, motility, bile acid sensitivity and host-microbe interaction. Project B06 studies how microbiota-directed antibody responses are generated in the gut-liver unit, develops a framework integrating biliary and intestinal IgA transport and function and characterises the impact of SIg on barriers in gut and liver. These approaches will reveal antigen-specific and antigen-specificity-independent functions of SIg in the gut-liver axis.
