Project Details
4-laser cell sorter
Subject Area
Microbiology, Virology and Immunology
Term
Funded in 2019
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 424726817
The ability to sort cells with high purity and the associated expertise has become indispensable for conducting research projects at the University of Tübingen. Currently, the Core Facility of the Medical Faculty Tübingen (FCF) operates a 4-laser 16-parameter cell sorter. The requested device is a replacement for a defective and therefore out of service cell sorter. The purpose of this replacement is to (1) increase the capacity for cell sorting to meet the increased demand from research groups at the Medical Faculty as well as the University; (2) reduce the time-consuming cell sorting process by simultaneously using two devices; (3) downtime is offset by technical defects that are no longer uncommon for the existing cell sorter due to age (2005 acquisition year). To ensure compatibility between the two devices, the requested cell sorter must have the same performance class. The requested cell sorter is an easyto-use device, which means little additional hand-on-time in daily routine in the FCF. Due to the automation, the parallel handling of both devices is possible with the same personal key.
