Project Details
4-laser flow cytometer
Subject Area
Microbiology, Virology and Immunology
Term
Funded in 2019
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 424726769
Since 2015 the central supply of high-end flow cytometers together with a coordinated consulting and training concept of the Core Facility Flow Cytomtery (FCF) of the Medical Faculty gets more and more important for the biomedical research of the University of Tübingen. The availability of State-of-the-Art flow cytometers for the analysis of more than 12 parameters is nowadays essential to accomplish DFG-funded individual projects or Collaborative Research Centers. Since 2016 the only current flow cytometer in the FCF with this configuration is getting more and more attention. Since then, the utilization limit is reached with a workload of around 1500h per year generated by 30 different scientists from 15 working groups. Besides, since the end of 2017, the current flow cytometer is used for immunophenotyping of patient samples in a phase 2 clinical trial in which ad hoc measurements are required. The purchase of a second flow cytometer with the same configuration is necessary to increase the capacity of multi-color analysis for existing and new innovative research projects, to compensate for drop-outs due to technical defects and guarantee a better instrumental availability at the Medical Faculty of Tübingen.
