Project Details
Coordination of gut-liver communication through directed immune cell migration (B02)
Subject Area
Immunology
Term

Directed migration of immune cells is controlled by the expression of chemokines and adhesion molecules (AM). Misdirected immune cell migration contributes to the pathogenesis of inflammatory diseases. Project B02 studies AM-dependent immune cell subsets that circulate between the liver and gut, affect microbiota composition and either prevent or promote gut-associated liver disease in mice. In addition, innate immune cells that depend on the AM β7 integrin and contribute to metabolic dysregulation and meta-inflammation will be characterised. Such information is a prerequisite for effective targeting of AM in gastrointestinal diseases.
