Project Details
400 MHz NMR-Konsole
Subject Area
Medicine
Term
Funded in 2019
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 420143102
In order to meet the increased requirements on the nmr spectroscopy due to the projects described in ´Beiblätter zur Forschung´ (amongst others within the LOEWE center DRUID), a spectrometer console, a sensitive multicore probe head and a high-capacity sample changer shall be purchased. The new acquisition will not only increase the sample capacity but in particular enable the measurement of samples with very low concentration, the expansion of measurements of hetero nuclei as well as the determination of protein dynamics by means of 19F nmr spectroscopy. The aims of the research projects comprise the development of active substances against neglected tropical diseases (e.g.schistosomiasis), parasitic diseases, highly pathogenic viruses and bacteria, as well as design and synthesis of selective inhibitors of methyl transferase, serine proteases, of plasmin and matriptase. Further aims are the characterization of thermodynamic and binding kinetic parameters of enzymes as well as the determination of the rearrangement of configuration during ligand binding. Furthermore, the development of biosensors, the identification of sulfur-containing secondary metabolites of the genus Allium, as well as the discovery of the biosynthetic potential of fungi and the investigation of their secondary metabolisms are pursued.
