This project aims at extending our notion of spin liquidity in a number of distinct directions. Central is the identification, characterization, and classification of new types of magnets with fractionalized excitations beyond the known instances of spin liquids. One direction is the generalization of the Kitaev quantum spin liquid; another the diagnosis of different types of quantum spin ices; the search for spin liquids with neutral Fermi surfaces; as well as the discovery of settings in which emergent gauge fields are of higher order, possibly involving the only recently identified fractonic excitations.
