Vascular reprogramming during tumor progression and homeostatic challenge (C05)

The group has during the current funding period performed genome-wide transcriptomic screens of endothelial cells in the pre-metastatic and metastatic niches. These experiments yielded groundbreaking insight into the bi-directional crosstalk of metastasizing tumor cells and endothelial cells and identified novel therapeutic vulnerabilities of the metastatic cascade. The experimental program of project C05 in the second funding period is aimed at shedding fundamental mechanistic insight into the bi-directional crosstalk of endothelial cells and metastasizing tumor cells and to thereupon develop novel translational paradigms for the exploitation of determinants of the vascular endothelium as therapeutic target and as biomarker readout for prevention medicine applications.
