Project Details
Astrochemical MHD simulations and synthetic observations (C06*)
Subject Area
Astrophysics and Astronomy
Term
from 2019 to 2022
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 184018867
The goal of the new project C6 is to (1) produce synthetic observations from 3D-MHD simulations of molecular clouds and compare them to actual observations and (2) implement a chemical network for deuteration in the FLASH code and apply it in state-of-the-art simulations. The work is based on the chemistry package KROME as well as the radiative transfer code RADMC-3D and focusses on the early evolution of molecular clouds. Key questions are e.g. how to determine the chemical composition or the age of molecular clouds. To guide future observations we will also study which molecules can be used best as molecular tracers.
