Digitisation and online-presentation of the “Schönbergische Sammlung (Schoenberg Collection“ archival holding available in the Landesarchiv Thüringen – Staatsarchiv Altenburg (Thuringian State Archive – Altenburg State Archive) are the aims of the project. The archival holding is a complete collection by the Altenburg Chancellor and Consistorial President Hans Dietrich von Schoenberg (1623-1682) and comprises 14.3 linear metres with about 110,000 pages that have to be digitalised. In particular, the archival holding is a unique collection of material about the history of the empire and the national history that contains both a lot of originals and volumes about the history of the House of Wettin, Central Germany and manifold imperial estates. Schoenberg‘s hand-written collections include original documents, nobility history sources and comprehensive correspondence between the statesmen Veit Ludwig von Seckendorff, August Carpzov and Wolfgang Conrad von Thumbshirn, as well as numerous diplomatic reports and protocols about the Prague Peace Agreements in 1635 and the Westphalian peace negotiations between 1645-1649.Most of all, the archival holding is characterised by its singularity, originality and individuality. Until now, because of lacking indexing, the archival holding was only partially accessible. After the completed indexing of the archival holding, an online-inventory is now available in Archivportal Thüringen (Thuringian Archive Portal). In order to avoid that this important archival holding can only be researched online, a complete access to research on the internet by means of digitalisation is provided, even allowing new discoveries. The project is carried out in cooperation with the long-term partner of the Landesarchiv Thüringen – Staatsarchiv Altenburg, the Thüringer Universitäts- und Landesbibliothek (ThULB) in Jena (Thuringian University and State Library). In recent years, the ”Digitales Archiv des Landesarchivs Thüringen (Digital Archive of the Thuringian State Archive)“ was established – a portal for the presentation of digitalised archival holdings of the Landesarchiv Thüringen. In this portal, the digital reproductions are linked with the available metadata. In the next step, in the Archivportal Thüringen links to the digital reproductions of the archival holding are also inserted into the online-inventory. Finally, the data is passed to the Deutsche Digitale Bibliothek (German Digital Library), the Archivportal-D (Archive Portal-D) and EUROPEANA.
