Project Details
Controlling the Activation of CO2 and H2 by Fluorine-Specific Interactions at Lewis-acidic Interfac-es (B05)
Subject Area
Physical Chemistry of Molecules, Liquids and Interfaces, Biophysical Chemistry
Term
from 2019 to 2020
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 387284271
The project B5|Frei focuses on the suitability of metal oxo-fluorides as heterogeneous catalysts. By systematically adjusting the fluoride concentration in ZnO, the Lewis-acidity on the surface is controlled. Further, fluoride located in the bulk acts also as electronic promoter. The understanding and correlation of the fluoride induced interactions with the ability of activating CO2 and H2 serves as key step to apply this concept to other materials and reactions.
