Project Details
Fluorine-Specific Interactions in Fluorinated Coordination Polymers for Electrocatalysis - Proton Conduction and Catalytic Activity for Fuel-Cells and Water Electrolysis (A06)
Subject Area
Solid State and Surface Chemistry, Material Synthesis
Term
from 2019 to 2022
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 387284271
The work program covers the mechanochemical synthesis of novel FMOFs and their detailed characterization, in which their degree of fluorination will be varied deliberately under the same synthesis conditions using different organic linkers. The electrochemical characterization of these novel materials for fuel cell (ORR, oxygen reduction reaction) and electrolysis (OER, oxygen evolution reaction) applications is validated in an RDE set-up and later on also in the system itself. It is investigated to what extent the acidity, which can be adjusted by the degree of fluorination, affects the proton conductivity.
