The project investigates the mapping between prosodic and discourse prominence (referential givenness, focus) in speech acts with speech-act-specific prosodic prominence relations that arguably are not linked to discourse prominence. We conduct experiments to explore the role of this (de-)linking for listeners' expectations regarding prosodic prominence in upcoming utterances, for the interpretation of prosodic prominence in such speech acts, and for the mental prominence of referents in the discourse representation of listeners.
