Within the next years, the Neubrandenburg University of Applied Sciences aims at establishing and furnishing a publication fund with attendant structures that support open access publication projects. Before submitting the first proposal, we still had a tight collaboration with the University of Rostock. During the first phase of the project, this collaboration was intensively used for establishing our own OA-structures and also to have a number of project meetings in order educate people with the proceedings of OA. Right after establishing the supporting structures, our university has installed an “open access officer” (which is Dr. Hagen Rogalski), who is the contact person for all university members in OA-affairs (informations, proposals and so on). With the current DFG proposal we aim at establishing a joint (online) repository for all OA-publications of our university (and the University of Rostock). In former years, we were able to financially support first individual open access publication projects, in the actual fiscal period we already provided a regular budget for open access publication, and the rectorate made quite recently a decision (18.04.2018) on the implementation of a publication fund. With the help of the DFG grantthe university aims at implementing reliable and permanent structures and budgets for successfully realizing open access publication projects. Furthermore, to permanently establish the idea open access, the university plans to join the “Berliner Erklärung”. In addition, the university supports actual open access initiatives as well as thenational DEAL negotiations.
