Project Details
Organocatalytic Cycloaddition Reactions and Mechanistic Investigations
Subject Area
Organic Molecular Chemistry - Synthesis and Characterisation
Term
from 2019 to 2022
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 410831260
Among a large number of organocatalytic reactions, cycloaddition reactions catalyzed by nucleophilic organocatalysts have been well developed, since they represent one of the most commonly used and efficient methods to access carbo- and heterocyclic compounds due to their high efficiency, very mild reaction conditions, and easy recycling of catalysts. However, the mechanisms leading to high regio- and stereoselectivities still lack systematic research. Within this Joint Sino-German Research Project, we intend to investigate organocatalytic cycloaddition reactions and their related mechanisms using a combination of experimental and theoretical techniques, and further to develop new reaction modes and to explore new substrates and mechanisms, which will benefit the synthesis of core structures of natural products. The methodological diversity of the involved research groups is expected to offer particularly high synergies.
