Development of a score for quality assessment of deceased donor kidneys in Eurotransplant

Objektive of this study is to develop an algorithm (score) to determine the risk of delayed graft function and transplant loss within the first year for deceased donor kidneys within Eurotransplant based on clinical data and, if necessary, also histopathological findings from a pretransplant biopsy. This algorithm will be specifically tailored for Eurotransplant based on retrospective data and prospective validation. Not only Germany but every country in Eurotransplant is in dire need of such an algorithm in order to transplant as many of the scarce donor kidneys as possible without putting the recipients at risk.
