Metabolic effects of fasting interventions on liver and kidney in type 2 diabetes (KS01)

We conducted a clinical trial in the second funding period, which was the first to investigate fasting effects on diabetes complications in patients with type 2 diabetes. In parallel to the clinical study, mouse studies on cell-specific genomic control of the hepatic starvation response were performed, and preliminary work under high-fat conditions included a comparative multi-omics (transcriptome, proteome, metabolome) analysis between time restricted feeding, intermittent fasting, and vertical sleeve gastrectomy. Aim of this project is to analyze the underlying mechanisms of the beneficial effects of the fasting intervention study from the 2nd funding period.
