Project Details
Micromechanical characterization of the fracture behavior of nanostructured layers (A07*)
Subject Area
Mechanical Properties of Metallic Materials and their Microstructural Origins
Term
from 2018 to 2022
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 138690629
In order to tailor nitride and oxynitride coatings for application, this project focusses on two research topics: by means of micromechanical testing, the relationships between chemistry and microstructure of the coatings and their resulting mechanical properties will be determined. Based on this, a mechanical model will be established across projects which will couple directly and across scales the physical measurements and the atomistic and continuum mechanical approaches in order to accelerate future process and material design.
