Project Details
The role of microtubule detyrosination in dendritic structure and function (B12*)
Subject Area
Cell Biology
Term
from 2018 to 2022
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 125440785
The project analyzes the microtubule (MT) cytoskeleton and its role in neuronal trafficking. Tyrosination and detyrosination regulate the functionality of MTs. The project aims to understand the role of MT detyrosination in the organization of the cytoskeleton in apical dendrites of pyramidal neurons. It will focus on the role of calpain in the regulation of tubulin tyrosine carboxypeptidase of the vasohibin/chaperone complex. The project will unravel how tubulin detyrosination can regulate the neuronal cytoskeleton, which is relevant for neurodegenerative disorders.
