Project Details
Characterization of the Extracellular Matrix of the Aortic Wall during the Development of Aneurysms Using Molecular and Biophysical MRI (B01)
Subject Area
Radiology
Term
since 2018
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 372486779
Pathological changes in the extracellular matrix (ECM) play a significant role in the development of abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAAs). In the 2nd funding period, B01 will shift the focus from the now completed successful identification of reliable dual-probe molecular approaches targeting the ECM to imaging-based monitoring of molecular therapy response in AAA. Besides, the established molecular and biophysical MRI techniques will be translated to a porcine human-relevant AAA model. The best imaging approach for AAA risk assessment and noninvasive monitoring of response to treatment will be identified.
