Project Details
Injection-compression moulding of thick-walled plastic optics with appropriate mould temperature control taking into account local cooling requirements (T01*)
Subject Area
Metallurgical, Thermal and Thermomechanical Treatment of Materials
Term
from 2018 to 2023
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 236616214
The overall objective is the transfer of the new method for thermal design developed in B1 from injection moulding to an injection-compression moulding process for thick-walled optical components with wall thickness differences. Therefore, the quality function in simulation-supported optimization must be adapted, which quantifies the quality of the thermal design. The next step is to use the algorithm for developing an application-oriented demonstrator in order to validate the advanced algorithm and to demonstrate the potential of demand-oriented mould temperature control during injection compression moulding.
