The symmetries of the action functional of the two-dimensional non-linear super symmetric sigma model have been explained as super geometric properties of super Riemann surfaces. As this super geometric description of the action functional exhibits strong formal similarities to the theory of harmonic maps on Riemann surfaces, I propose here to exploit the symmetries of the action functional to study the Teichmüller theory of super Riemann surfaces.
