Project Details
Cognitive control as transdiagnostic construct for impulsive and compulsive disorders and its relation to self-control (C06)
Subject Area
Personality Psychology, Clinical and Medical Psychology, Methodology
Term
from 2018 to 2024
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 178833530
Project C06 investigates if clinically relevant expressions of compulsivity and impulsivity reflect dysfunc-tions in the regulation of cognitive control, which lead to an imbalance of cognitive flexibility and stability. In a transdiagnostic approach, we will investigate control dysfunctions in clinical samples along compulsivity and impulsivity dimensions (obsessive-compulsive and alcohol-use disorder). The aim is to delineate transdiagnostic subgroups of individuals characterized by specific configurations of behavioral, neural, and self-reported control capabilities, and to examine how these groups differ in real-life self-control and quality of life. Results will be relevant for mechanism-based therapies of dysregulations of cognitive control.
